Privacy Policy & Terms of Service
Last updated: August 26, 2026
Welcome to GOOD DEAL ("we," "us," "our," or the "Platform"). By creating an account, listing items, placing bids, or making a purchase on GOOD DEAL, you agree to this Privacy Policy and Terms of Service ("Agreement"). If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
1. Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of information to operate the marketplace:
- Account information: your name, email address, password (hashed), and role, provided during registration or Google sign-in.
- Listing & transaction data: product details, images, bid history, buy-now purchases, shipping addresses, and package dimensions you submit.
- Payment & escrow data: handled by our payment processor, Stripe (see Section 3). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Device & usage details: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and interaction logs used for security and analytics.
- Communications: messages you send to support or through Platform notifications.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Process auctions, record bids, and facilitate buy-now purchases and escrow payments between buyers and sellers.
- Verify seller identity, enforce listing limits, and manage subscription-based seller plans.
- Detect fraud, prevent abuse, and maintain platform security.
- Send transactional and notification messages (outbid alerts, auction-ending reminders, dispute updates).
- Calculate and collect platform commission, and generate required tax forms.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Stripe Payment & Escrow Disclosures
GOOD DEAL uses Stripe for payment processing and escrow. When you make or receive a payment, your financial data (card numbers, bank details) is collected and secured by Stripe — a PCI-DSS compliant processor — and is never transmitted to or stored on GOOD DEAL's servers.
Escrow: For auction and buy-now transactions, buyer funds are held in escrow until the item is confirmed delivered or the dispute window closes. Sellers receive payouts to their connected Stripe account minus the platform commission. Funds may be held, reversed, or refunded in accordance with Stripe's policies and our dispute resolution process.
IRS Form 1099-K Reporting: Under U.S. tax law, payment platforms are required to file Form 1099-K with the IRS for sellers who exceed applicable transaction thresholds. Stripe may collect your tax information (e.g., SSN/EIN) and issue a 1099-K on your behalf. You are responsible for reporting all sales income on your tax returns. Providing false or incomplete tax information may result in withheld payouts or account suspension.
4. User Conduct & Content Guidelines
You agree to the following rules while using GOOD DEAL:
- Accurate listings: Describe items truthfully, including condition, defects, and authenticity. Prohibited items (illegal goods, weapons, counterfeit products) are not allowed.
- No shill bidding: You may not bid on your own listings or arrange artificial bids to inflate prices.
- No circumvention: You may not complete transactions off-Platform to avoid fees or escrow protections.
- Respectful conduct: No harassment, fraud, or manipulation of other users.
- Content ownership: You grant GOOD DEAL a license to display images and descriptions you upload for the purpose of operating the marketplace.
Buyer/Seller Dispute Resolution: If a buyer does not receive an item or it differs significantly from the listing, they may open a dispute within the Platform's dispute window. GOOD DEAL may hold escrowed funds, review evidence from both parties, and issue a refund or release payout at its discretion. Decisions are final and binding for that transaction.
5. Account Termination & Data Retention
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate this Agreement, engage in fraudulent activity, or pose a risk to the Platform or its users.
After termination, we retain data as follows:
- Transaction records: kept for up to 7 years to comply with tax, accounting, and legal requirements.
- Dispute evidence: retained for the duration of any open dispute plus 3 years.
- Account data: deleted or anonymized within 90 days, except where retention is legally required.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting support, subject to legal retention obligations.
6. General Terms
GOOD DEAL is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from transactions between users. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Platform operates. We may update this Agreement at any time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
For questions about this Agreement, contact GOOD DEAL support.
